Our thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected by the wildfires currently burning in neighboring counties, where many of our employees work and live. Please keep your loved ones safe during this difficult time and know that there is support available to UC Davis employees who have been directly or indirectly affected by these events.

Approval of Leave

Please work with your supervisor on leave approvals related to fire needs (evacuation, animal care, volunteer assistance). Supervisors, please grant your employees flexibility with their schedules during this emergency, to the extent permissible given patient-care and other operational imperatives.

Catastrophic Leave

If your primary residence is in a mandatory evacuation area and you’ve exhausted your leave balances (vacation, compensatory time, sick), you may be eligible to participate in the Catastrophic Leave Program to receive donated vacation hours. Counseling Services

The Academic and Staff Assistance Program offers free counseling and referral assistance for employees and their direct families and can help individuals coping with anxiety and stress, grief and loss, and more. Read about the services available at the Davis Campus and UC Davis Health.
